Living the Truth
We will wrap up our series on The Five Principles this Sunday. However, the implementation of the practices that support our expanded understanding of God and our oneness with It, is a lifelong quest. I believe it may be the most worthy quest, and one that is calling to more and more people each day!
The first Principle alone requires us to release our outgrown understanding of God that greatly limits both God and ourselves. Thankfully, it can also begin to remedy and heal some of the abuse and egregious misuse of power to control and harm people, in the name of God.The following quotes from Emilie Cady is helpful grow such a mindset:
"God is not a being or person having life, intelligence, love, power. God is that invisible, intangible, but very real something, we call life. God is perfect love and infinite power. God is the total of these, the total of all good" (Lessons In Truth, 18).
"God is the name we give to that unchangeable, inexorable principle at the source of all existence" (Lessons In Truth, 22).
If this is true, then it naturally follows that the essence of creation, including humanity is an expression of perfect love and infinite power. Humanity is unique in its ability to know this, and then to live from a conscious awareness of it!
We begin by becoming more aware of the nature of our thoughts and feelings. We then realize that we have the choice to continue to ground them in fear, which is the response of our limited human nature and understanding of reality, grounded in ideas of separation.
Or, we can chose to respond from our growing spiritual nature, knowing our oneness with God, grounded in ideas of love.
This requires us to spend time in the silence, aligning our mind with Divine Mind, to receive the guidance, strength and inspiration of Divine ideas. This is the function of prayer and meditation.
The voice of the world grounded in fear and separation is getting louder. More than ever, it seems, we need to know that we are in the world but not of it. What we are of is of God- that unchangeable, inexorable principle at the source of all existence. It is imperative that we continue to ground our thoughts and feelings in that Truth.
Can you see how knowing this Truth- of the True nature of God, as your True nature then changes how you live?
This is how we live the truth that we know !
